Visit to the Floor of the U.S. House of Representatives
(8:00 a.m.) - Be ready to leave the hotel at 7:00 am!
Tour of the U.S. Capitol after floor visit

11:30 am Unveiling of the House Republican Policy
Initiative at the YRLC lunch featuring Congressman
Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI), Chairman of the House Republican
Policy Committee.
Afternoon Training Sessions will begin at 1:30pm and
unless otherwise noted will be held at the Liaison Hotel.
Training will occur in 2 sessions for an hour and fifteen
minutes with a fifteen minute break. Be sure to sign up for

Track 1: Communications – Using Technology to
Increase Involvement - Leadership Institute, Arlington,
VA. YRLC is providing transportation to this training.
Audience: Open
Session 1: Panel on Future of ways to get out the message
(Blogging, FaceBook, MySpace, etc) what is the next
technology Web 3.0?
Session 2: Importance of providing the proper message –
Learn how to respond to the press whether it be on the phone
or TV.
Track 2: More than Leadership - Planning for the
Future Success of Your Organization
Audience: All YRs in leadership positions, or YRs who are
interested in leadership in the future.
Session 1: Leading From Anywhere; The Art Of Getting People
To Want To Do What You Want Them To - Speaker Dan Nolan
Session 2: How to Empower Others to Prepare Them for
Future Leadership
Track 3 – Political Action - Big Picture Strategy, From the
Farm Team to Republican Victory. - Training being
provided for by GOPAC
Session 1A: Being a Candidate
Audience: Those who are running for office or plan to run for
office in the future.
Objective:
-When is the right time to become the candidate? Multiple
losses can affect an overall career.
-Strategic long term election planning for YRs.
-How to objectively evaluate a race.
-How to select a campaign manager, campaign team.
-How to ensure a positive relationship with your campaign team
Session 1B: Campaigner/Activist
Audience: Party Activists / Any interested Yrs
Objectives:
– Difference between large and small state activity.
– Difference between Red and Blue state activity.
– Emphasize working in party structure from County to
State level a YR infusion to the Party.
– Political Strategy 101
– How to assess a race early for optimal success.
– How to manage a candidate
Track 4: Fundraising: Squeezing Money Out of People
So Nicely, They Think You're Hugging Them
Audience: Anyone who may need to help raise money for a
campaign, YR organization, or other worthy cause.
Session 1: How to host a fundraiser (what is involved in
planning one) and Communicating with donors and how
conduct an ask.
Session 2: Campaign Finance and starting a PAC – the
differences between a State and Federal PAC and when one is
needed over the other - Speaker will be Mark Braden,
Campaign Finance Law, Baker Hostetler
Reception - 6:30 - 8:30pm
Night out in DC on your own! Suggestions of places to
go out include Dupont Circle, Georgetown and Adams
Morgan! Or even check out the Nationals game.
